Story
Lively and refined, this coffee opens with a citrus-forward brightness, complemented by subtle allspice undertones and a juicy pomegranate sweetness. The cup comes together in graceful harmony, offering a vibrant yet balanced experience from start to finish.
India Gundikhan Natural marks our first offering from India since 2017—and it’s a standout return. Gundikhan Estate, located in the Chikmagalur district, is part of the KaadKaapi Collective, renowned for wildlife-friendly coffee farming near the Bhadra Tiger Reserve. The estate is owned by Saif Ulla, whose passion for preserving native tree diversity and wildlife shapes every aspect of his work.
Perched at 1300 MASL—an exceptional elevation for India—Gundikhan benefits from cooler temperatures that slow cherry maturation. This slower growth produces denser beans with more complex sugars and lipids, resulting in a dynamic cup with heightened sweetness, acidity, and body.
Saif’s meticulous approach to both washed and natural processing further enhances quality. In this natural process lot, the coffee cherries are left intact during drying, allowing the fruit to impart its full, juicy body and vibrant, fruit-forward sweetness.
After years without an Indian coffee on our menu, we’re thrilled to feature Gundikhan Estate—a true testament to India’s growing excellence in specialty coffee.
