Story
We are excited to offer you an exquisite Pacas lot from Arturo Paz! This coffee, from the Santa Bárbara mountainside, has a beautifully balanced profile with soft floral aromatics reminiscent of white lilac. In the cup, you're met with clean and juicy notes of mango and prickly pear, and just the right amount of depth and balance that rounds the cup out with the taste of pie crust. Named after the farm where it was grown, this coffee embodies Arturo's rich heritage, agronomic expertise, and unwavering commitment to the land and the craft of coffee.
THE STORY
Arturo Paz hails from a long line of coffee producers. His family has been growing coffee for over 60 years, since his grandfather planted their first trees on the Santa Bárbara mountainside outside of Peña Blanca, Honduras. Today, the Paz name is highly respected in the region. Arturo manages six farms, including El Guaco, which is named after a horse he was gifted in his childhood. Recently, he installed a wet mill at El Guaco to better control the quality of the coffee he is producing.
Arturo has significantly contributed to the coffee industry, not only as a coffee producer and highly trained agronomist, but also as a skilled cupper. This has helped him pioneer the practice of separating day lots into distinct microlots at the nearby San Vicente mill, which he runs with his cousin, Benjamin Paz. In addition to his passion for coffee, he is dedicated to forest conservation and is currently working on connecting his protected land to nearby national parkland to support biodiversity.
