Story
We’re excited for the return of Kuta Peaberry, a delightful washed peaberry coffee grown across multiple farms along the Kuta Ridge in the highlands of western Papua New Guinea. This region is known for its black volcanic soil — ideal growing conditions for quality coffee.
Sorting and milling takes place at the Kuta Coffee Mill, which operates as a collaboration between the Ulga and Kolga tribes, traditionally known as rivals. The mill places a strong emphasis on quality, paying bonuses to farmers who consistently deliver well-picked cherries.
This lot has been carefully sorted to feature peaberries, a natural mutation in which only one seed develops inside the coffee cherry. The result is a smaller, rounder, and denser bean, often associated with sweeter and more concentrated flavors. In the cup, we found that sweetness expressed as crisp red apple, layered with subtle earthy nutmeg and a rich, molasses-like depth.
