Bright Blend

Crafted for those who seek adventure, a coffee to keep you moving onward and upward through whatever the day brings.

Bright bursts with vibrant, sweet, and fruity notes, grounded by a soft, pleasing acidity reminiscent of ripe raspberries. It’s a blend of our latest Eastern African washed coffees, primarily Ethiopian with a touch of Kenyan for added depth and sparkle.

A true staff favorite, this is the coffee we take home on weekends - our companion for road trips, hikes, and everyday escapades alike.

Prep:

For use as an Espresso or Filter

Our recommended starting point for espresso extraction is 18 grams in, 42 grams out in 27-30 seconds. For filter, start with a 1:15 ratio coffee to water (filtered, delicious water), 3+ minute brew time, minimal agitation. Adjust to your preference.

Story:

Kuma means bear in Japanese. The founder of the company spent time in Japan before moving back to the states and adopting a big shaggy dog that looked like a bear, so they named it Kuma. Years later came the coffee company and they named it after their dog.

Kuma Coffee started as a guy roasting coffee in his garage in Seattle, Washington. A guy with a passion to find coffee that tasted excellent, roast it very carefully, and get that coffee into people's hands. It was not about how shiny the package was, it was about how delicious the coffee inside it tasted.

This is an excellent coffee. I know that it says it's their Red Bear Espresso blend, but I made this as a v60 pourover. The coffee is wonderfully intricate - bright without being overly bitter and an excellent spiced aftertaste. I would gladly order this again!

This is basically the same coffee experience as the Red Bear espresso, which is my go to coffee for Italian stove top pots.
