Story

Triangle Accent

Sometimes the classics surprise you most. This exceptional Red Bourbon from renowned producer Wilton Benitez completely stunned our cupping table with its intensely sweet, jammy, and fruit-forward profile. Blind cupped alongside exotic varieties, this coffee stood out as one of our highest scoring lots proving that in the hands of a master producer, a classic variety can become something extraordinary.

The cup is candy-like and lavish, layered with notes of jammy pink fruits, black cherry, wildflower honey, strawberries and cream, bubblegum, and roses. Elegant, expressive, and deeply sweet, it’s a coffee that delivers both complexity and pure enjoyment in every sip.

A chemical engineer turned coffee producer, Wilton Benitez is known for pushing the boundaries of coffee processing through scientific precision and innovation. This direct trade microlot underwent an intricate series of processing steps including cherry sterilization with ozonated water and UV light, thermal shock treatments, double anaerobic yeast fermentation in bioreactors, and carefully controlled drying. Each stage was meticulously designed to maximize clarity, sweetness, and flavor intensity.

The result is a vibrant and unforgettable Red Bourbon that beautifully showcases Wilton Benitez’s mastery of both science and coffee craftsmanship.

Story:

Unparalleled quality, a human story, and sustainability – that’s our coffee philosophy.

Unparalleled quality. We won’t buy a coffee unless we know that it will inspire you.

A human story. Often times a producer’s story gets lost in the coffee supply chain. It’s our focus to provide a seed-to-cup experience, honoring everyone involved

Sustainability. We purchase coffees directly from producers and through brokers who share our goal of making coffee a sustainable commodity. Financially and environmentally, the coffees we purchase seek balance. Premiums paid for quality far exceed fair trade premiums and afford a more sustainable, honest model.

Combine our coffee philosophy and passion for exceptional coffees with our down-home Midwest hospitality and that, in a nutshell, is JBC Coffee Roasters. We can’t wait to share our coffee passion with you.
