Story
Our new Gicherori Kenya is a standout microlot from the slopes of Mount Kenya—selected exclusively for its exceptional cup quality. This coffee is everything we love about a decadent Kenya: sparkling, plush, and intensely berry-forward, with vibrant notes of raspberry, red currant, golden raisin, orange zest, cranberry, and cherry bonbons. If big-bodied, juicy, fruit-saturated Kenya coffees are your thing, this one will hit the mark.
The Gicherori Factory, established in 1997, is operated by the Kibugu Farmers Cooperative Society (F.C.S.). Roughly 1,050 smallholder farmers deliver ripe cherry to the factory the same day it’s picked, ensuring freshness and quality from the start. The factory also provides extensive support for its members, including farmer education, Good Agricultural Practices training, and sustainability-focused workshops.
This microlot was selected by our friends at Café Imports for its superior quality. In Kenya, microlots are traceable to the factory or individual farm level and chosen solely on cup score. Café Imports’ green buyer for Kenya typically stays in-country during harvest to cup thousands of samples, picking only the highest-performing lots. This one made the cut, and it shows in every sip.
