Story
It’s always exciting when every cupper calls out the same standout note—and for this sweet, citrusy Ethiopia lot, the word is peachy. Meet Tadese Teko Ethiopia, a beautifully high-toned washed coffee with tasting notes of peach (of course), hibiscus, orange blossom honey, lemon, and pear. Floral, bright, and classic—this lot is as delightful in the cup as it is meaningful in impact.
This coffee is part of Café Imports’ Single Farmer Project, spotlighting individual Ethiopian producers and creating new pathways for farm-level traceability. Grown by Tadese Teko on his 8-hectare farm in Shale Village near Worka, this lot reflects both tradition and excellence. Tadese uses long-standing Ethiopian practices—shade-grown cultivation without fertilizers, pesticides, or fungicides—and the exceptional quality of his harvest has earned him well-deserved recognition. His coffee income and quality premiums also support his nine children, all of whom attend school—an uncommon achievement in this region.
The Single Farmer Project was born during a turbulent period in Ethiopia’s coffee history, when individual traceability was nearly impossible. In 2012, Café Imports helped make some of the very first farmer-identified Ethiopia lots available, breaking away from the auction system that blended countless smallholder coffees together. Since then, this project has championed transparency, relationship, and fair compensation—ensuring farmers like Tadese can negotiate their own prices and build long-term partnerships with roasters who value traceability.
This coffee is not only delicious—it’s part of a groundbreaking movement in Ethiopian coffee. A peachy cup with a powerful story.
