Story
Another first for JBC: our debut Ombligon lot from producer Yulieth Mora in Huila, Colombia.
This rare variety is intensely tropical and floral, bursting with notes of piña colada, dried strawberry, lemongrass, and watermelon candy. If you’re chasing exotic flavor without the extreme price tag, this microlot delivers.
Ombligo, Spanish for “belly button,” named for the dimple at the base of its cherry—is believed to be a natural mutation of Ethiopian lineage. It gained global attention in 2023 and has since been praised for its layered sweetness, red fruit intensity, and creamy texture. This lot showcases all of it.
Grown by third-generation farmer Yulieth Mora at Villa Pastora in Palestina, Huila, the farm was founded by her grandmother in the 1980s. Today it stands as both a quality-focused microlot producer and a resource for neighboring growers.
Ripe cherries were carefully selected, floated, depulped, and fermented with Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast before 15 days of patio drying resulting in a vibrant, expressive cup with serious character.
Limited release.
