Story
Tumbaga, an alloy of gold, copper, and silver, was used in pre-Columbian cultures for intricate metalwork, symbolizing the harmonious balance between gold and silver. The name “Tumbaga” is now used to represent this coffee, embodying the same balance of great coffee without the caffeine. The producers meticulously select fresh, high-quality coffee beans, carefully chosen to harmonize with the decaffeination process, ensuring a consistent and exceptional cup of coffee.
Tumbaga coffee undergoes a unique decaffeination process using Ethyl Acetate (EA), a substance derived from sugar cane. EA is combined with fresh water to gently extract caffeine from the beans without resorting to excessive heat, pressure, or chemicals. This approach preserves the coffee’s inherent characteristics, authentic essence, and qualities, all without the use of any artificial additives.
