Story

Triangle Accent

Finca El Chaferote is located in the department of San Agustin, in the southern part of the Huila region, where the Central and Eastern Andes Mountains converge. The farmers around here are mainly smallholders that have made a solid push to produce specialty coffee that reflects the characteristics of the region's terroir.

Luis Gerardo Bravo Ordonez acquired Finca El Chaferote almost 40 years ago. Luis began cultivating commodity grade coffee, but his ambition and desire to leverage coffee as a way to improve his family’s quality of life led him to an interest in producing specialty coffee. He began experimenting with new varieties such as Pink Bourbon and Geisha, and attending trainings to improve production at the farm. In 2019, Luis participated in his first Cup of Excellence. His hard work and reinvestments in the farm were recognized when El Chaferote placed 3rd with their Pink Bourbon variety.
