Offering a full, round body with a lingering finish, this coffee has citrus and nectarine notes in the beginning. Sweet honey and sugar crumb cake combine with bittersweet baking spices towards the finish.
STORY
Located in a small community in San Martin Jilotepeque in the Chimaltenango region of Guatemala, Concepción Buena Vista has been operating for more than 150 years. What started as a small family farm that yielded corn, beans, and coffee has grown steadily over four generations to the high-quality coffee farming and processing operation that exists today. Concepción Buena Vista is dedicated to improving coffee quality through experimentation in processing as well as providing education within the local community. In May 2022 our Director of Coffee, Ed, traveled to Guatemala City for a few days where he met with producer David Solano and his wife. They visited two of David's four cafes, called 12 Onzas, in both Guatemala City and Antigua. The cafes, along with Concepción Buena Vista, are owned by the Solano family. David is a two-time National Barista Champion (2018, 2019) and fourth generation farm owner. In addition to teaching his visitors and customers about specialty coffee, David experiments with various processing methods as a means to improve coffee quality and flavor. Twelve percent of his coffee processing is done through experimental methods, including Nitro Process, Lactic Process, and Anaerobic Process. His dedication and contribution to specialty coffee is now evident on a global scale, particularly after Solano's espresso ranked third best espresso at the World Barista Championship 2019. David also competed in the World Barista Championship this past summer in Melbourne, Australia. This is our third year obtaining coffee from the Solano family, and we're proud to showcase the exceptional quality of Concepción Buena Vista.
