This unique cup features aromas of Gala apple, dried prune, and biscotti. Balanced notes of green grape, macadamia, and ruby red grapefruit mellow into an aftertaste of eucalyptus and butter toffee.
Tabi is a relatively new variety, released by Colombia's Coffee Research Institute (CENICAFE) in 2002. This cross between Typica, Bourbon, and Timor is resistant to Coffee Leaf Rust while retaining the desirable cup characteristics of Typica and Bourbon. "Tabi" means "good" in the dialect of the native Guambiano people.
From the importers, Inconexus:
"Before growing coffee, Didier Anacona cultivated corn and platanos. He started to grow coffee organically as well as breeding bees, to protect the environment. In return, bees provide him with honey and supplement his work by pollinating the coffee and plants.
"Seven years ago, he and his wife bought this farm and decided to call it El Porvenir—the future. When Didier started planting the first trees, it was a rare variety, with much less density than other coffee trees. But the cup quality is outstanding, with fruit flavors, sweet aroma, and dense body."
