Story
Established in 2011, Huye Mountain Coffee is a private washing station in the Huye District of southern Rwanda. It provides farmers in the region with access to specialty coffee markets. Over 1,330 Rwandan farmers deliver their freshly picked coffee cherries to 26 collecting stations around the Huye community. During harvest season, the coffee is collected daily from these stations.
Last year, our Huye Mountain offering was sun dried. This year, it’s a washed process. Despite the processing change, this crop still delivers abundant and wonderful flavors. We tasted the sweet acidity of green apple, the punchiness of black currant, and noted how black tea contributes to the overall equilibrium of the flavors.
