Story
Making its return to goodboybob is El Tablon (which means The Plank) from Nariño, Colombia. This coffee is a classic example of the very best of Nariño. Nariño is in Southwest Colombia, bordering Ecuador, and has elevations that exceed 2200 meters - some of the highest-grown coffee in the world, made possible by the region’s proximity to the equator.
The Farms in the area are small, ranging from 1 to 2 hectares (2.5 - 5 acres). Typically, each farm is cared for by family members. During harvest, seasonal workers are hired to assist in harvesting and processing the coffee. None of this would work without Gildardo Chincunque, a producer himself, who pays producers cash for their parchment and takes the necessary steps to bring the coffee to market.
The varieties are Caturra, Castilo, and Colombia. The high elevation in the municipality of Tablon de Gomez in Narino results in a very sweet and balanced cup. This is a Washed process coffee, dried on patios and parabolic driers. The clarity and traditional Nariño Colombian flavor profile shine with notes of cherry, nougat, and milk chocolate. This coffee is a great choice for a comforting coffee, ideal for any time of the day.
