Scored 95 Points Coffee Review!!!
Kenya Kamviu
Kamviu is Temple’s first direct Kenya. Kamviu is the name of the wet mill, owned and operated by the Gakundu Farmers Cooperative Society in the Embu North District, Eastern Province. The Cooperative currently has 700 members who farm on an average of 1 acre, or about 300 coffee trees per farm. The Gakundu Cooperative is meticulous with their picking and processing methods. All ch

erry is delivered to the wet mill the same day it is picked for processing. Once delivered, cherry is sorted prior to pulping. Red ripe cherries are separated from under-ripe and foreign matter. Processing utilizes clean river water that is re-circulated before disposal into seepage pits for filtration and integration back into the water shed. Sun drying is done before delivery of the coffee to the dry mill for secondary processing. From www.CoffeeReview.com Purist’s Alternatives: We also tested three fine, classically wet-processed Kenyas that impressed with an average a rating of 92. One, the soaring, exquisitely and sweetly bright Kenya Kamviu from Temple Coffee, is reviewed here at 95. Had I felt comfortable following my own subjective preferences and leaving the Coffee Review rating system and its carefully worked out calibrations behind, I probably would have assigned this coffee a rating close to 100. Slightly pricy at an equivalent of around $21 per pound, it definitely ranks as a bargain when run through my personal price-to-pleasure calculator. Blind Assessment: Exhilaratingly complex; flawlessly balanced and complete. Black currant, blackberry, grapefruit and flowers in aroma and cup; lushly tart, sweetly lively acidity. Buoyant, active mouthfeel; long, resonantly flavor-saturated finish. Notes: Produced from trees of the admired, Bourbon-derived SL 28 and SL 34 varieties of Arabica as well as the hybrid Ruiru 11 variety. Despite grower discontent and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands, Kenya continues to produce some of the world's most elegant and distinctive coffees... Who Should Drink It: Simply a superb, complete coffee; the great Kenya style at its finest.
