enya’s Central Province. This section of the country boasts beautiful mountain ranges and high elevation throughout. Lake Victoria to the west provides moist air which is met by Indian Ocean breezes from the east. The high mountain geography combines with the wet climate to produce the perfect growing conditions for coffee cultivation. Not only does the Iyego cooperative produce some of the greatest coffee in the world, but the organization is also an active member of the “Our Global Coffee Village” foundation. Since 2005, the “Our Global Coffee Village (OGCV)” foundation has established positive social relationships between coffee roasters and coffeefarmers around the world. With headquarters in every major coffee producing region and in both the United States and Europe, the OGCV has succeeded in promoting literacy, healthcare and economic stability to coffee farmers who participate. In the Iyego region, 2,900 farmers have been affected by the program. Upon cupping this coffee, you will find that a floral sweet aroma precedes a gentle and well-rounded body. Fruity flavors combine with a dry-lime acidity to form a very uniquely complex experience. Sweet tangerines, citrus fruit and warm chocolate notes will linger on the tongue.
