4 by Jesús Aquirre Panama. He originally planted the farm with sugar cane, beans and tobacco. It wasn't until the early 1900's when he started planting coffee. The farm is presently managed by the third and fourth generation Aguirre family. The Aguirre family takes extra measures to ensure a superior harvest, and conducts soil and leaf analysis every year to ensure that proper nutritional levels are maintained throughout the harvest season. Due to the unique micro-climate, and the extra care the Aguirre family takes, Finca El Injerto has garnered a reputation as one of the premire coffee farms in Central America. A separate lot from Finca El Injerto received 1st place this year in the 2012 Guatemala Cup of Excellence competition. In addition, Finca El Injerto also sold an auction lot this year that received the highest price ever paid for coffee at auction, a remarkable $500.50 per pound!
