ly unique, known for its' bright citrus acidity, full body and black currant flavors. The coffee is grown by many small farmers in the area, and brought to be processed at the factory. The average number of trees per farmer is roughly 200. The Thiriku Factory helps their farmers by giving them advances for school fees, farm inputs and other emergencies. The factory manager is retrained every two years to ensure that proper harvesting and processing techniques are utilized. We have had coffee from the Thiriku processing station before, and in March of 2011, we received a 95 point review on Coffee Review for our roast of Kenya Thiriku. This year's lot features a similar profile with a bright sparkling and pleasant acidity. Black currant flavors and golden raisin sweetness come through a deep syrupy body in the cup. This is the first year we have labeled Kenya Thiriku as a "Direct Trade" coffee. Green Coffee Buyer and PT's Director of Quality Control, Jeff & Maritza, had the opportunity to visit Kenya Thiriku during their harvest this year. After the coffee is processed it is then taken to the Central Kenyan Coffee Mill to be organized by lot and shipped across the world.
