CODECH, which stands for Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de Concepción Huista, was founded in 1998 as a cooperative for coffee and a variety of other agricultural products. The farmers live in the area surrounding the town of Concepcion Huista, where they cultivate small plots of land which average just over one acre in size.
