e only female mill operator and exporter in Ethiopia, Asnakech Thomas. She is an inspiring figure who is committed to producing high quality coffee and works tirelessly to improve life in the coffee growing communities in the Amaro district. Asnakech is a native of Amaro and returned to the region in 2005 to work with local farmers and raise global awareness of their coffee. She also works to support social programs including local schools, clean water initiates and medical care. Asnakech belongs to an agriculture-business group that is supported by USAID. Through the assistance of this group she has installed and operates coffee processing machinery at her mill, including an eco-friendly pulper. She trains farmers in the region on a variety of agricultural practices and focuses attention on bringing ripe cherry to her mill, which contributes to the clean and fruity cup we have come to expect from her coffee. This coffee is great black and iced.
